How to Subscribe to Marketing Emails
- 1
During Registration
When creating your account, look for the checkbox that says "Send me helpful tips and updates by email, including news about our other sites". Check this box to subscribe to our marketing emails.
- 2
Via Footer Newsletter
Scroll to the bottom of any page to the Stay Updated signup form, enter your email and select Subscribe to join our mailing list.
- 3
From Settings
Open
Personal → Email Preferencesin the sidebar and switch on Enable all, which turns on every marketing category at once. You can then switch individual categories back off.
How to Unsubscribe from Marketing Emails
- 1
Using Email Unsubscribe Link
Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Opening it unsubscribes you without signing in, and you can choose to stop only certain categories or all of them. Unsubscribing from everything also stops our news digest.
- 2
From Your Account Settings
Sign in and open
Personal → Email Preferencesin the sidebar. Switching Enable all off unsubscribes you from every marketing category. While it is off, the individual switches cannot be changed, and the page tells you to enable marketing emails first. - 3
Contact Support
If you’re having trouble unsubscribing, use our contact form and we’ll unsubscribe you.
Important
Managing Individual Email Preferences
You can customise which types of emails you receive by managing individual preferences:
- 1
Access Email Preferences
Open
Personal → Email Preferencesin the sidebar. - 2
Choose Your Preferences
Toggle individual email types on or off. The page lists one category per kind of marketing email we send.
Each category is switched on or off independently, so you can keep the ones you want and switch off the rest. They are all off until you opt in.
- 3
Save Your Changes
Click "Save preferences" to update your email settings. Changes take effect immediately.
Emails That Are Not Marketing
Email Preferences also carries a switch for each kind of email that is not marketing. Switching one off stops that whole kind of email across every feature. The same page sets how often we group up the news digests you have subscribed to.
The rest of the email we send about your account is controlled in two other places:
- Notification preferences: security alerts, will reminders, document expiry, billing, chat and anything needing your action. You can switch email and push on or off separately, and set quiet hours. Security alerts are always delivered, even during quiet hours.
- Digest Emails in the sidebar: the summary of your outstanding tasks. You choose daily, weekly or off, along with the day and hour it arrives and the time zone it follows.
Verification emails, password resets and payment confirmations are sent because you asked for them or because they record something that happened on your account, so they are not switchable. There is deliberately no switch for them anywhere: it is what guarantees a preference can never stop your sign-in code reaching you.
Frequently Asked Questions
What emails will I still receive after unsubscribing?
You will continue to receive essential emails including account verification, password resets, security alerts, payment confirmations, and important legal updates about your wills.
How quickly do preference changes take effect?
Email preference changes take effect immediately. However, if an email campaign was already scheduled, you might receive one more email before the change is fully processed.
Can I re-subscribe after unsubscribing?
Yes, you can re-subscribe at any time using the same methods described above. Unsubscribing switches off all individual categories, so after re-subscribing you’ll need to re-enable the ones you want on your email preferences page. The switches listed earlier in this article are the current set.
How often will I receive marketing emails?
It depends on which categories you have switched on. We respect your inbox and only send content we believe is relevant to the categories you chose. Switching off a category stops those emails entirely.
Is my email address shared with third parties?
No. We never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes. Your privacy is protected according to our Privacy Policy.
