Threshold alert emails
An optional daily check that emails you when your recorded days move into a new informational band
What the email tells you
When your confirmed stays take you into a band you have not already been told about, we send one short email naming the rule, the window it is measured over, the number of days recorded so far, and the informational label for that band.
Every word describing your position comes from the rule set itself, including its disclaimer. The email does not interpret your situation, recommend anything, or tell you what to do next.
It is a prompt to look, not a verdict
Turning it on and off
The alert is off until you switch it on, and switching it off again takes effect straight away.
- Go to Residency Day Tracker (opens in a new tab) in your account
- Open the automation settings for the page
- Switch on Threshold alert emails
This choice is separate from the other two residency automations. Turning on alerts does not turn on country inference from your sign-ins, and it does not turn on reading forwarded travel emails. Each is granted, and can be withdrawn, on its own.
When the check runs, and what it looks at
- The check runs once a day, in the early morning UK time.
- Only stays you have confirmed are counted. Drafts waiting for your confirmation are ignored.
- Only rule sets for countries you have recorded presence in are considered.
- Only bands that describe an accumulating number of days can trigger an email. Bands that describe a low day count as reassurance never do, because there is nothing being approached.
Why the same alert never repeats
We remember the last band you were emailed about for each rule set, along with the window it applied to. While both stay the same, no further email is sent, however many times the daily check runs.
A fresh email is sent when your days move into a different band, or when a new window begins, such as the start of a country’s next tax year. Each country is remembered separately, so approaching thresholds in two places gives you one email each rather than a single merged message.
Who sees this
The email goes to you and to nobody else. Alerts are never sent to people you share your whereabouts with, and they are not part of the check-in escalation, which is a separate feature with its own contacts and its own settings.
Frequently asked questions
Will I be emailed every day once I turn this on?
No. The check runs daily, but an email is only sent when your recorded days move into a band you have not already been told about in the current window. A quiet inbox means nothing has changed, not that the check has stopped.
Why have I had nothing after passing a large number of days?
Two common reasons. The stays covering those days may still be awaiting your confirmation, in which case they are not counted yet. Or the band your total falls into may be one of the reassurance bands, which describe a low number of days and are not treated as an approaching threshold.
Can I get alerts for a country I have never been to?
No. Only rule sets for countries you have recorded presence in are checked, so you will not be emailed about somewhere you have not been.
Does an alert mean I have become resident somewhere?
No. It reports where your recorded days sit against a published day figure, using the wording held with that rule. It does not assess your residence, and it is not advice. Consult a qualified professional about your own position.
What happens if I turn it off?
The daily check stops emailing you immediately. Your stays and your day counts are untouched, and you can still see the same information on your residency page whenever you look.
