Question 1

What kinds of documents can I store in the vault?

Accepted Answer

Anything you would not want to lose or have to replace from another country: passports, visas and residence permits, tenancy and employment agreements, insurance policies, vaccination and medical records, identity documents, and the supporting paperwork that goes alongside them. Each upload is private by default.

Question 2

Can someone I trust open the vault if something happens to me?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if you switch emergency access on for them. Only a contact who has accepted the role can ask, and you decide which documents they could see. You are told the moment they ask, nothing is released unless your rules are met, and access is read-only and time-limited.

Question 3

Do you see my face or fingerprint?

Accepted Answer

No. Face ID, Touch ID and the Android equivalents check you on the device itself. Biometric data never leaves your device; we only receive a signal that your device authenticated you.

Question 4

Can I share one document without opening the whole vault?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Share a single document with someone you trust, choose whether they can download it, and set a date for the share to end.

Question 5

Can the vault remind me before a document expires?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add an expiry date to a passport, visa, license or policy and you are sent a reminder ahead of it, so a renewal does not catch you out.

Question 6

Can I record where the paper original is kept?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Link a document to an entry on your Belongings Map and the document shows where its original is kept. The map is a record only: we never hold or collect any items.
