Subscribing to a Calendar Link
Paste a private iCal link from Proton, Outlook.com, Google, Zoho and others.
Steps
You paste a private calendar link. We only read it to see when you are busy, and nothing we book is added to that calendar.
- Find your calendar’s private iCal link (it often ends in .ics) using the steps for your provider below
- Open Calendar, then Calendar Integrations from the settings menu
- Under Connect a Calendar, select Connect on Calendar link (read-only)
- Paste the link and select Connect
Finding your link
- Proton Calendar: open Settings, then All settings, then Calendars, open the calendar’s settings, and create a share link with Full view or Limited view (busy times only is enough for us), then copy it
- Outlook.com: open Settings, then Shared calendars. Under Publish a calendar, choose the calendar, select Publish and copy the ICS link
- Google Calendar: open Settings, choose the calendar under Settings for my calendars, then copy the Secret address in iCal format from Integrate calendar
- Zoho Calendar (if you prefer a read-only link to the two-way Zoho connection): open Settings, then Calendar, then My Calendars, and choose the calendar. Under Sharing and permissions, find Private URL and select iCal to copy the link
- Tuta Calendar: Tuta’s own guide covers sharing a calendar with other Tuta users and importing .ics files, but not a private link another app can subscribe to, so at the time of writing there is no Tuta link to paste here
- Other providers: look in the calendar’s sharing, export or integration settings for a private or secret address in iCal (ICS) format
- Keep the link private. Anyone who has it can see your events, so share it only with services you trust
What We Can and Cannot See
We can see:
- The times of events in that calendar, so bookings avoid times you are busy
We cannot see:
- Anything outside that one calendar
- Write access: nothing we book is ever added to the calendar behind the link
How to Disconnect
- Open Calendar, then Calendar Integrations from the settings menu
- Select Disconnect on the calendar link. We delete the link we kept
- To make sure the link can never be used again, reset or stop sharing it at your provider
Troubleshooting
- If the link is refused, check it starts with https:// or webcal:// and opens in your browser
- If you reset or stop sharing the link at your provider, the old link stops working. Disconnect and paste the new one
- Events added in the last few minutes may not show yet; we check the link for changes regularly
