Is Orchard72 Regulated? The FCA Regulatory Perimeter

Last updated: 18 August 2026

Orchard72 provides information only. Nothing displayed constitutes investment advice or a personal recommendation under FSMA 2000. We are not authorised by the FCA. We do not hold client money and do not execute trades.

1. What Orchard72 is

Orchard72 is an information-only portfolio tracker. It allows you to record securities you already hold, view market prices and historical performance, and see analytics drawn from the data you enter.

Orchard72 does not place trades, hold client money, or aggregate bank or broker accounts on your behalf. The product reads only the records you choose to enter manually or upload as a CSV file.

2. We are not authorised by the FCA

Expat183 is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and is not a member of any UK financial services regulator. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) and the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) do not cover any aspect of the Orchard72 service.

Nothing displayed in Orchard72 (including charts, analytics, watchlists, or any insight produced by automated analysis of your data) constitutes a personal recommendation under section 22 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA 2000) or a regulated activity under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities) Order 2001.

3. What we deliberately do not do

To stay outside the FCA perimeter, Orchard72 deliberately avoids any feature that would cross into a regulated activity. In particular:

  • No personal recommendations. Orchard72 does not tell you what to buy, sell, or hold. Generic market data and educational commentary are not tailored to your circumstances and are not a substitute for advice.
  • No portfolio rebalancing prompts or model portfolios. We do not produce target allocations, suggested weights, or prompts to alter your holdings.
  • No client money or custody. Orchard72 never receives, holds, or moves your money or assets. All money and assets remain at your existing brokers, custodians, and banks.
  • No trade execution or order routing. Orchard72 does not place orders with brokers and is not connected to any execution venue.
  • No Open Banking aggregation or Account Information Service. Orchard72 ingests data only via manual entry and CSV upload from a pre-approved list of broker file formats. It does not act as an Account Information Service Provider (AISP) under the Payment Services Regulations 2017.
  • No broker referral codes or paid introductions. Orchard72 does not arrange deals in investments and is not paid by any broker for sending you their way.

4. How Orchard72 gets your data

Orchard72 holds only the records you provide. There are two ingestion paths and both are explicitly enumerated in our backend allowlist:

  • Manual entry. You can record holdings, transactions, and watchlists by hand.
  • CSV upload. You can import statements from supported brokers as CSV files. The set of accepted formats is fixed in code; adding a new ingestion path requires an explicit allowlist edit in our backend repository, which a reviewer must approve.

Market prices and security identifiers used to display values come from third-party market data providers. We send only the security identifiers needed to retrieve prices — never your name, account details, or portfolio composition. The full list of providers is published in our Privacy Policy.

5. Data accuracy is not guaranteed

Market data displayed in Orchard72 may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. You should not rely solely on Orchard72 values when making decisions about your money. Cost basis, gain and loss, and tax calculations depend on the records you provide; if those records are incomplete, the calculations will be too. Orchard72 makes no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of the data it displays.

6. If you need investment advice

If you would like personalised guidance on whether a particular investment is right for you, please speak to an independent financial adviser authorised and regulated by the FCA (in the United Kingdom) or the equivalent regulator in your jurisdiction. The FCA Register at register.fca.org.uk (opens in a new tab) lists firms and individuals authorised to provide investment advice in the United Kingdom.

7. Changes to this page

If Orchard72 ever introduces a feature that approaches the FCA perimeter (for example, a regulated advice product, an Open Banking aggregation path, or a referral arrangement with a broker), we will obtain the necessary authorisation or exemption first and update this page before that feature ships. The current position is information-only, and that is the position we intend to maintain.
